If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that the combination of salty hot dog and savory corn meal batter is a winning one… most of the time. At Casey’s Corner in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, the Corn Dog Nugget has been a favorite snack (and more recently a favorite entree — see it here!) for years, but recently we learned that things inside the nugget just aren’t the same.
That’s right: something is amiss, and we made a special trip to Casey’s to investigate. What we discovered (according to Cast Members) is that the tasty dog that was previously used in the corn dog nuggets has been swapped out for chicken. The change occurred about a week ago, and already it’s stirred up a lot of chatter (and complaints).
This might not seem like a big deal. Lots of people find that chicken and turkey are interchangeable. But in this instance, the change is obvious once you cut (or bite) into a nugget. The dog is anemic in appearance — unexpectedly and unappealingly pale.
We didn’t think these were a terrible option in terms of flavor. But the color of the dog is a little off-putting, and there is something in the flavor that — while okay — is not as compelling as the original version. In fact, with the exception of adding some saltiness to the nuggets, the chicken dog is overpowered by the corn meal, leaving each bite out of balance.
Cast members at Casey’s indicated that they’ve received a lot of feedback on the new Corn Dog Nuggets and even offered to replace the order with something else from the menu if we didn’t like them.
And don’t forget: foot-long hot dogs recently left Casey’s (you can find them over at Cosmic Ray’s now — see more here!), so perhaps the changes aren’t finished at Casey’s Corner. We’ll keep watch and let you know!

Rebecca Balber says
This is great news, a lot of people don’t eat pork or beef so this is a welcome option.
Steph says
This is a travesty.
EJ says
Why all the changes Casey’s Corner?! If it isn’t “Baroque”, don’t fix it!! I’m sad.
Danielle says
I was soooo sad I missed these on our last trip and had definite plans to get them next May. Let’s pray they go back to the OG!! Although extremely disappointed, I’ll be in Disney so really, what’s there to complain about? 🙂
Beverly says
Nooooo! Hopefully all will be back to normal before our trip in September!
Dan says
What the heck is wrong at Casey’s? Why are they messin’ with a good thing?!
DFB Sarah says
EJ, one of my favorite Disney quotes! 🙂
Samantha says
This is an OUTRAGE! This is my favorite place to go and I LOVE the original corn nuggets. What is Disney doing changing up everything!? Why can’t they have both options? I LOVE Disney but they keep taking away the tradition, it just isn’t the same anymore. Disney is starting to lose their magic and traditions that have been there for SO long! Such a huge disappointment…..
Kimmy says
I knew it was chicken! I called them “chausages” lol. Gah. Definitely not as magical as the original corn dog nuggets! Thank u for the thorough investigation!!!
Sandra says
By the time they are battered and fried, it’s really hard to tell the difference, since they use the same spices for hot dogs made from poultry as from beef or pork. I’m not looking at the color when it’s in my mouth. I agree that it would be disappointing if you specifically went there for a big all beef hot dog on a bun and found it replaced with a turkey dog, but these? Dip them in mustard, take a bite, go on with the day.
Sarah says
This would be a great option IF they still had the previous version available. I haven’t tried the new ones, but it’s easy to tell the difference between a chicken-based hot dog and beef. To be fair, I’d probably like the chicken ones okay, but they’re not going to be the must-buy they were before.
Mike says
By definition a corn dog is a sausage dipped in cornmeal based batter and deep fried. And let’s face it, anyone eating a corn dog is expecting it to be a hot dog in there. Hence the word dog in the name of the food. Go figure.
Being that this is a VERY popular treat at Casey’s, what was the point of messing with how it’s made? Is this more of this political correctness stuff where everything needs to be healthier, etc? It’s BATTER that has been cooked in a jacuzzi of liquified FAT! I think the target audience knows what they are getting into at this point, so substituting a hot dog for chicken is pretty lame.
Charity says
I am ok with them changing their menu
They should let people know they changed it thou
Shaun Lance says
I was already outraged that they removed the footlong hot dog option. I guess they are attempting to cut down the traffic for that location and they seem to be successful.
Alisa Myatt says
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I love these! And my husband loves the footlongs… not sure how I missed those are gone now 🙁 BOOO!
Barry says
Why the heck get rid of the foot long dawgs!!!!!
Mark says
I Don’t want a chicken dog nugget! Why not, they ruined the hot dogs here a few years ago, but we would still get the corn dog nuggets, now I guess we’ll skip them now!
Lynn says
Just call it a chicken nugget and get it over with. I don’t particularly like the look of them from your pictures. If I’m looking for a cornDOG I don’t want a chicken nugget. To each their own, there are plenty of other things to eat. There have been so many changes lately that I don’t look forward to anything much anymore until I get there. The food seems to be aimed at what’s “in” and what there is to drink. A lot popular foods lately look to me like they’ve been already chewed but people love them. Like I said, to each their own but I won’t be ordering them anytime soon.
Mitch says
This is unfortunate for me, as I’m allergic to chicken. Based on the menu in the mobile app, there is no indication as to what kind of meat is used, and it would be assumed that a corn dog is not chicken. I’ll need to be careful and ask about everything the next time I’m at WDW.
DFB Sarah says
Alisa, you can get them at Cosmic Ray’s for now, if that helps. If they move again, we’ll update!
Jacqueline says
I’m disappointed. My family doesn’t like ‘chicken hot dogs’ so this is no longer an option for us. My daughter really enjoyed these in the past and I was looking forward to stealing one or two! I hope they switch back…if not, then we’ll have to find another tasty treat for lunch!
Rick says
Disney isn’t making enough money on corn dog snacks already? You only go to a chicken dog because they are dirt cheap.so
Anybody who thinks they did this for health reasons has been out in the sun way to long!
Chase says
We got 3 orders last week. 1 order was the original. 2 were the new chicken. They were not good and not super tasty.
BK says
Why not have both choices?!! That’s the best solution I think. I will never understand why businesses change a good thing! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!! Offer both choices then!!
Annette says
Are they going to remove all pork from the menus? I hope that is not where they are going with this !
DFB Sarah says
Annette, the original Corn Dog Nuggets were already turkey. We don’t expect to see pork being removed from the Parks.
Judy says
To me , it seems like false advertising. Like a previous guest said a Corn Dog is a regular hot dog on a stick dipped in the corn meal batter.
I’m sure this has to be to increase profit.
Brandon says
Wait!!!!!!
The big thing I took away from this article was your closing statement of “Casey’s no longer serves foot long hotdogs.”
WHHHHHAAAATTTT???!!!???
That was the only reason I ever wanted to go there. To get their foot longs. Grr.
Re: Nuggets
I love how the cast members have the prescripted answers they are told to give for anticipated questions. Just like at the Apple store.
While I do agree that MOST store bought hotdogs are usually a mixture of chicken and pork vs all beef. These look like deli-style lunch meat punched out in the shape of canned Vienna sausages.
