Hello friends! This morning we announced that it was time to hop on the Millenium Falcon to travel to a galaxy far, far away for Passholder previews.
But sadly, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Annual Passholder previews have already reached capacity.
These previews will take place from August 17th – August 21st and will allow those who snagged a reservation (lucky you!!) to explore the land for four hours.
But, if you were not able to grab a Passholder preview, don’t fret! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will officially open to the public on August 29th. And for those of you who are planning to visit during this exciting time, Disney has announced a whole slew of EXTRA Extra Magic Hours. This means that if you are staying at a Disney-owned resort (or a select Good Neighbor hotel), you’ll have the chance to access the land bright and early before the rest of the masses.
Read more about EXTRA Extra Magic Hours here!
Be sure to check out our latest DFB Video so you know what to expect at Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens.
Thanks for letting us know we got the first day the first preview
For those of you who snagged tickets, have fun!
We have been passholders for three years and have never gotten into one of these preview events because they fill up so quickly. By the time I see the email and notification and click on the link, it’s already filled up. I would be very curious to know how many “annual passholder preview” tickets are available vs. how many passholders there actually are. I’m not suggesting that Disney is obligated to host a free-for-all for every single passholder, but gosh, these preview tickets are almost impossible to get. For us, this time, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway because we are “only” gold passholders and thus not eligible to attend the Galaxy preview.
I too would be interested in the numbers. From the time I saw the email notification to the time I clicked on the link to be allowed to register was about 30 minutes, then after clicking the link I was kinda put on hold for around 15 minutes, there was a message that said to stay on the page otherwise I’d lose my place in line. After that page I was given a calendar with time availability. Saturday and Sunday were already filled, but I had my choice of times on Monday. I was fortunate to snag a time slot. I just had to delay my departure from Disney for one day.
Debra, that’s great that you snagged a spot! Congrats! I’m sure it will be really fun!
How do you make reservations for the saber and cantina?
I’m a brand new platinum AP holder & I very surprised I was able to get a reservation! I saw the announcement in my Disney Tourist Blog newsletter maybe 2 hrs after it was released, & the first two days were gone already. So I have to go the second day of school for my kids (who don’t have APs)! I wonder why Disney chose dates right as school is starting back for many? I’m glad to go, and Congrats to all who can! See y’all there!
I got the email, but the email from Disney Food Blog was the one that alerted me to the one from Disney. I was able to get in, but only for the Wednesday…of the first week of school. Since I’m a teacher, I’m not going to be able to make that, so I didn’t schedule any time. However, after seeing all the videos from AJ, I’m not sure I’m really missing all that much. The land will be there the next time I go and it looks like nothing more than a bunch of themed shops with over priced (for an amusement park!) items for sale with one ride.
To those of you with the coveted weekend passes, congrats!!! To everyone going, hope you have a lot of fun!
I saw i was suppose to select it at time i selected the time i wanted to go in. But i bekieve i only selected the ride…there was 3 options. Ride, ride and catina and ride and lightsaber…?
I got in. My son and I are going on Saturday can’t wait…..
We to have been platinum annual Passholders for years and we never even received the email invitation. I would not of even known that it was available for registration if not for the food blog. Unfortunately we were not able to get a preview reservation however thanks to the wonderful people at the Disney Food Blog for letting me know to try for it
We snagged a spot for the final day. Day before our anniversary. We will probably just go up for the day unless I can find us a hotel stay at a reasonable price.
KraftyKorner, hi, again! It looks likely there will only be availability at Savi’s and Oga’s for those who registered at the time of booking the preview. Hopefully you’ll still enjoy your preview, and it sounds like Droid Depot is going to be available so long as there’s space.
Congrats to all of you who rec’d a pass – I am very jealous! I was out of town at a client’s, when the email came, and I didn’t know it had arrived until the next day when I returned home. By that time all slots were full. Unfortunately, their method of notification/selection favors those who can watch their email continuously v. those of us who have to work and be away from the computer to do our jobs. Maybe I can get a FP one of these days!!
Donna, I agree with you. Most people don’t watch email continuously. It would be nice if Disney would send text notifications instead. Either that or offer more slots! I’m guessing that only a tiny fraction of annual passholders are able to get into these events and I think it creates disappointment when so many passholders read their emails, get excited and hopeful and go to the website only to find out that the event is full. If the point is to offer a perk to annual passholders, I think it would be much more fair to offer the same perk to everyone. For example, all passholders could receive a fast pass to the Millenium Falcon.
