in Downtown Disney has created a new Farmers Market series. And what’s on the menu you ask?! VEGGIE ICE CREAM!
According to the Downtown Disney ice cream spot, they purchased and used about 14,000 pounds of summer veggies from 15 local farmers to use in their new ice creams.
So, let’s check out these interesting flavors.
First up, Carrot Cake Batter with Pralined Hazelnuts. They shred fresh carrots and roast them with a bunch of spices until the spices caramelize. Then, they add in vanilla cheesecake and candied hazelnuts.
They’re also serving the Caramel Corn on the Cob flavor. First, they sauté sweet corn in brown butter. Then, they “steep them as you would a bundle of spices.” After this, they transform this into ice cream and add in vanilla-spiked caramel.
Now let’s check out the Tomatoes and Strawberry Sorbet, which is actually a vegan option! To create this flavor, Salt and Straw starts by juicing tomatoes and then they blend them with some strawberries and Arbequina olive oil.
These flavors should be available at Salt and Straw throughout the month of August.
