It’s been almost three years since Disney World’s historic COVID-19-related closure and reopening, but things are still slowly getting back to “normal” at the resort.
Within the last few months, we’ve seen more character experiences return to the parks, we’ve seen the reopening of restaurants, and we’ve seen the return of some experiences that had been gone for years. Buffets have also come back to many restaurants. And as of March 1st, that includes Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so let’s head over there and check it out!
Chef Mickey’s is a character dining experience that is open for breakfast and dinner. Previously, meals here were served family style, but as of March 1st, the buffet has returned!

But others are NOT fans of buffets at all, whether that’s due to cleanliness concerns, fears that they’ll miss a chance to see the characters when they get up from the table to get their food, or the challenges that can come with making sure a little kiddo gets their buffet eats without knocking things down. What side are you on?

First of all, pricing has changed here a bit. Here’s a look at the differences:
- Breakfast: Previously: $45 per adult and $29 per child — now: $51 per adult and $33 per child
- Dinner: Previously: $60 per adult and $38 per child — now: $62 per adult and $39 per child

…and up to the 4th floor of the resort.
We checked in to our reservation online.
Through that system, you can specify how many guests will be coming, mention any dietary requests, and also note any special events you’re celebrating.
Then it was time to get a look at the menu! We stopped by for breakfast and the buffet offerings listed on the menu included biscuits and gravy, waffles, fruits, and more.
When our table was ready, we made our way inside.
Then it was time to EAT! You’ll grab a plate from the buffet station and start serving yourself!
We spotted various breads and crackers…
…meats and cheeses…
…fruit and yogurt…
…scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, potato barrels…
…bacon and some more sausage…
…a tofu scramble…
…Mickey waffles (of course)…
…french toast sticks…
…some meats…
…little pancakes…
…and MORE!
In other words, there’s plenty to pick from!
And you can’t forget about the character appearances and the character autograph card you get here.
Considering this a WIN! pic.twitter.com/FO4qvxwNvb

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Aside from the characters popping by a couple of times, this is nothing but an overpriced Sizzler that made our party of 9 sick.
We organized a family gathering having some come from Georgia, some from Tampa and my family from south Florida. we gathered for an expensive (over $1k) dinner at chef mickey at the contempary resort before visiting parks the next days. unfortunately we all had to cancel plans and go home early as every one of us got ill. doctor suspected we picked up norovirus at the restaurant.
We wrote disney several times now, only a canned response. i called their loss prevention number only to be told to file a long complaint if anyone was hopspitalized. so unless you almost die, they will not even give you the decency of replying. never again disney…

When will Disney stop raising their prices on everything. Disney is not the only company that lost money during the Pandemic. More than one million people died, milli pms Lost their homes, their jobs, their savings and their retirement. NOT DISNEY. Disney made it all back and more in three years. Shame on you Disney for all your lies about why it was necessary to make all of the terrible changes that you have made since 2019.

Did they bring back the pancakes topping bar (sprinkles, chocolate chips, marshmallows)? And the famous cheesy hashbrowns?
Poor Gail says
I see tater tots, but any sign of hash browns? I am an absolute fiend for hash browns, especially the shredded kind.
