If you notice something different on your next trip to Magic Kingdom, chances are it’s probably Cinderella Castle.
Disney has been hard at work painting this iconic part of the park, and the work still isn’t done! So far, we’ve seen the castle be transformed from pink and gold back to its original blues and greys, and we must say, it feels great to see Cinderella Castle back in all her original glory — even if the transformation isn’t totally complete yet!
We’ve been keeping up with all the changes at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, and slowly but surely, the castle is starting to look even more like its original self. No traces of pink are left; instead, we’re met with the cool blues and greys that have graced the castle’s exterior since it was first built in 1971.
We do love that so far, it looks like Disney might be keeping some of the gold accent and trim work that was part of the 50th Anniversary castle design, as it makes everything look just a bit more regal. Whether or not the gold sticks around remains to be seen, as Disney could easily just be saving that part for last.
The blues on the “shingled” roofs have been repainted, as they now give off a bright pop of color. The blues and golds work so well together, along with the grey of the castle’s “stone” exterior. The light blue hatchmark and zig-zag designs on the roofs are also such a fun, whimsical touch. While those aren’t necessarily new additions, we’re glad to see that they’re sticking around.
Down on the ground, the moat is still drained, and it doesn’t look like this part of the project will be done anytime soon, though ultimately, it’s hard to tell. There are still lots of scaffolding and tarps strewn about, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see the moat refilled anytime soon — though we can dream! They do say a dream is a wish your heart makes, so consider this our heartfelt plea.
We also spotted some additional painting being done at the bottom of the castle. What was once a light grey or white is currently being painted dark grey, which will no doubt add some moodiness to the overall vibes of the castle and moat area. Maybe Disney is trying to get us used to the dark vibes we’ll be getting once Villains Land finally opens. Who knows?!
One thing is for sure: we can’t wait until this transformation is finally complete. Luckily, it does seem like a majority of the work has been completed, so we might be in the home stretch now.

I know it isn’t the popular view, but I liked the pink. I think the current color scheme is rather flat and boring. At least they kept the darker blue for the roofing.
I am happy with the colors going back to original but I do hope they keep the gold accents. Makes it look more royal to me.
